IQ260 vs IQ360

Postby steffenjahn » Tue Nov 03, 2015 11:04 am

I´m ready to say goodbye to my Credos to jump onto the new XF-system ( well done Denmark ). I´m just wondering which differences I will see when buying a IQ260 instead of a IQ360 ? I understand that there will not be a histogram nor bubble-indicator on the XF camera.... and what else I will miss ? Anything essential ?

Thanks for clarification !

Histogram and bubble level are actually still available with the IQ260. Right now what you would miss out on is power sharing. It is possible that in the future other new features might not be available if they require high bandwidth communication.

Hi Jon - thanks a lot. Also as I learnt that USB 3.1 protocol is only supported by the IQ3 backs... I think I bite the bullet and get the newest, hottest stuff ;-)

Hi

IQ3 is still USB3. (There is hardly any computers with USB3.1)
However it does support BC1.2 charging. (USB high amp charging)

Dear Ulf,

Charging from USB does not seem to work on my IQ380

During tethered shooting via USB battery drain is very fast, even when connected to a 1.5A BC 1.2 USB 3 hub.

I have tried both slow and fast charging, but it makes no difference, battery is not charged in any mode.

Switching the camera of does not light up the charging indicator on the IQ380 back and there is no increase in charge status after overnight charging.

Charging via FW-800 works ok and the charge indicator lights up orange when the IQ380 is switched off, but only the IQ380 battery is charged from FW, and not the XF battery.

USB 3 BC 1.2 does not charge XF nor IQ380 battery.

Best regards

Only the back battery is charged, this is correct but in the end it does not matter since you have power sharing between the body and back.
Also BC1.2 is enough to run the back, but not body and back.
However it will of course extend battery life.
What you should make sure is that USB Power Management is On. (On the back)

Contact the Phase One partner from who you purchased the equipment if this is this case.

Dear Ulf,

Thank you for your quick response.

USB power management is set to "On", and I have tried both fast and slow charging.

The IQ380 battery status indicates USB current level of 1500mA, and also indicates "Charing" behing the battery capacity persentage.

However, charging does not seem to happen since the capacity goes down.

Left overnight in "Off state" the IQ380 should charge, but the battery capasity is the same after 12 hours.

Also the orange LED on the IQ380 does not light up in "Off-mode" and USB 3 BC1.2, but is does so when I leave it in "Off-mode" with FW-800 connected.

With FW-800, an almost empty battery will charge to 100% in less than three hours.

I reported this to my dealer a week ago, and I think he filed a support case but no info yet.

It is a bit of a pity since I use live view via USB on a tech camera for focusing, and without the USB charging the battery drains really fast. I have six of them but that does not last a full day of shooting.

Best regards

Trond, this is turning more in to a support case rather then a user to user discussion.

Go to http://support.phaseone.com if you prefer support to answer you questions alt. contact your local Phase One partner for assistance.
