Does anyone have experience with USB3 and/or FW800 to Fiber Optic media converters? I've got an upcoming shoot where I need a long distance (100m-500m) cable run, and in an RF-hostile environment (WiFi's out). Ethernet can't handle cable runs that long (max length spec 100m/328ft). Obviously FW and USB can't natively do runs that long. So, I'm considering going Fiber.
Has anyone had success with the converters specifically with MF backs or DSLRs? Plan B is tethering to a local laptop, then hook that up to Fiber via an Ethernet->Fiber converter (proven technology), and back to Ethernet at the other end for client viewing and approval. I'm curious though if it's possible to skip the local laptop, and go IQ back right to Fiber, via FW or USB3. Eager to hear any feedback.
BTW, I'm well aware of the Corning USB3 Active Optical Cables. They max out at 100m, and I'm looking for the ability to go longer and be a bit more versatile, hence raw fiber and media converters.
Thanks!
