Profoto 8A power pack sync issues with Phase one DF

Postby NNN634848921931035068 » Sun Mar 02, 2014 1:19 pm

Hello,

I have used a profoto 8A powerpack quite a number of times and there seems to be an issue when it comes to shooting at high shutter speeds using a medium format camera. When my shutter speeds are over 1/500 I can see a drop in exposure and it remains the same till 1/1600 the max sync speed of the Phase one DF system. Trouble after 1/500 till 1/1600. There is a prominent drop in exposure and even with the "high speed sync" option in the "profoto air remote wireless trigger" its 25% better but not the initial exposure. If im correct the packs should sync at all speeds or do I have to have a faster flash duration? Will using a sync cord help resolve this issue? I did not use a sync cord since the air remote trigger syncs at 1/1600 as per profoto spec's.

Thanks in advance guys,

M.

It is worth trying the hard wire sync, but if fast mode on the air doesn't help then the problem is most likely that the flash duration at the power level you are using is simply longer that the shutter speed can fully capture.
