When could we see Capture One 6.5 32 bit?

Will we see Capture One 6.5 for Win XP SP3 32 bit and Win 7 32 bit.
Really need support of Ricoh A16 DNG module, Pentax Q10, K-01 (DNG), K-30 (DNG), K-5IIs and K-5II cameras.

I would think it is unlikely that there will be further updates for V6.

You may want to try creating a support case to see what sort of response you get.

I think that realistically we have to assume that things will become rather unusable with the memory limitations for 32bit operating systems in the near future and that upgrading is the only logical path to follow. Whether one can find decent hardware at "very affordable" prices I'm not sure.

Hi,

you may be right considering the new processing algorithms introduced in V7. Anyhow as stated in another post already it's hard to imagine that the reading and processing of RAW files wouldn't be expandable backwards, this is, including in the list of supported camera models the most recently released. For sure the data of the most recently released cameras doesn't need the new processing modules. Of course those are needed for the improvements. But not for the basic tasks. If this wasn't true then all support of older cameras would have to be carried on and adapted/modified for the needs of the new version. It would be hard to believe that under such circumstances P1 would continue supporting cameras for example from 6 to 7 years ago, like the KM 7D. In my understanding it's a marketing decision from P1 - which could be reverted at any time if they wish so and such provide a version of V6 having as its only feature the support of recent camera models (independently of 32bit or 64bit). I'd wish P1 would decide to do so.
Cheers, M. Fritzen

Hi Michael,

I would think there are both marketing and financial considerations involved (plus a few techinical things for new cameras and supporting systems)

It might be very difficult to justify allocating resource to support old systems from which there was not available revenue stream. Even if people wished to do it for back-marketing reasons it could be difficult to put a business case together.

I have a lot of empathy for your view but I suspect it probably simply does not make business sense. It would be nice to be surprised by something that further supports V6 once the initial release overload of V7 is overcome ... but to be realistic I cannot recall anyone ever taking that route unless they were planning to develop a 2 tier product model for thie business market.

This is a user forum, but IMHO you won't see any updates or upgrades to anything other than the current version. That has been a reality with Adobe and PS versions since the inception of Camera RAW, also PhaseOne. XP is only being maintained by Microsoft...and even that will cease next year.
>>On April 8, 2014, all support for Windows XP, including security updates and hotfixes, will be terminated.[2] Users will still be able to download old updates and hotfixes from Windows Update. Microsoft recommends that users upgrade to Windows 7<<
