H20 problems on Hasselblad 555 ELD

Postby goans » Tue Jan 15, 2008 5:03 pm

I've been having problems lately using my H20 on my 555 ELD.
I have never been able to get the shutter to release using the DIGI socket, only the FILM socket. Am I doing something wrong?
When using a slow shutter speed, like 1/2-second, the camera sometimes freezes.

Now, the camera has frozen up solid. I had a very hard time removing the lens and the shutter WILL NOT cock using the official Hassy tool on the inside of the camera. It is now off for repair.

Am I doing something wrong. I did notice my Capture One software was not set to mirror lock-up mode. I don't know if that would affect anything.

Also, since I switch between a waist-level finder and angle finder, I don't lock on the H20 to the camera. Could this be a problem?

Hi Andy,

Is there another body and lens that you can test with?
Mirror up mode is irrelevant here unless you are shooting with the mirror locked up.

Seems like there is a problem with the electrical signal between the body and back, hence not communicating with the back.

The 1.2 sec exposure issue and the difficulty cocking is a hasselblad body issue entirely.

What do you mean by \"I don't lock on the H20 to the camera\" ??

By not locking on---I mean I don't tighten the screw at the top of the back.

Actually I had this problem with two 555ELD---that are now off being repaired.

I'm using the back on a Fuji GX-680 now---actually as I write.

I had used this back on both 555ELDs for a long time. I have rental unit here but I'm reluctant to try it.

Both cameras froze up with the same lens being used.

Sounds like the lens is the culprit

Just tried the lens on another Hasselblad motorized body---except with this ancient stuff called Polaroid.

It worked just fine.

Any other ideas?

If the body is set to \"film\" there is no communication between the back and body aside from the lens sync. When using the digi-mode, the only communication is to tell the camera not to fire until the back is ready. Therefore the back cannot cause the camera to lock up and require repair.

That kind of problem is purely mechanical.

If you cannot use digi-mode on ANY 555 ELD, then we may have a different issue. If that is the case, create a support case and we can do more in depth troubleshooting.
