How to idle battery drain ?

Postby NN636864892541607581UL » Sat Feb 23, 2019 3:36 am

Hello all: If you place a fully charged battery into an IQ back, and just let it sit unused, and off, the battery seems to run down at a rate of say 25% in a few days...week. For instance start at 100% and discharges to 70%.

I used some new battery's and tests if the same occurred when the battery is not in the back (self discharge).

It says at 100% for a similar or longer period. Anyone else notice this?

Phase One: Is there an idle battery drain? Is this normal? Can it be corrected or reduced in a future firmware releases?

Many Thanks!

Yep, same here, lets hope it doesn't deep discharge the battery and end up binning batteries...

Same here with an IQ3 50.

If I leave the back on the DF+ body, take the body battery out and leave the IQ battery in, it self disharges around 25% in two days.

Now I take also the IQ battery out when finished with a shoot.

Hello,

It is a good practice to remove all batteries and media from the body and DB. With that said, in the DB menu, you can turn off some settings to reduce power consumption, such as preview after capture, standby, and other settings.
For more details, a manual can be downloaded from Phase One. https://www.phaseone.com/en/SupportMain/Manuals

Another consideration is the charger that is being used. The older chargers (2400mAh,2800mAh battery chargers) that came with Phase DB have a 20-30% less charge with newer batteries.
3200mAh and 3400mAh batteries will only get 70-80% of its charge even though the charger shows 100%.

Hope this helps
