Brush Issue

Postby NNN636464573406226352 » Sat Dec 02, 2017 7:03 pm

There seems to be a bug with the mask brush shooting a straight line up to the top of the image while doing a longer stroke. It does not seem to happen if I use short quick strokes but if I brush more than a few seconds, the line just appears out of no where.

Image

Not sure if I need to include machine specs to rule out if its an issue with my machine or graphics card but just in case... running Win 10, 2 Xeon E5-2560 @ 2.4GHz and 128megs of RAM and an Nvidia Quadro M5000.

Any advice or is this a bug and we just wait til the next update...?

Thanks in advance

This is related to Wacom drivers. Please make sure your driver is up to date as the first step.

Well....updating the drivers worded for about 10 minutes and then it goes back to the wacky vertical lines.

Any other ideas?

Thx for the super fast weekend reply, BTW.

What Wacom board are you running ?
We are seeing it rarely, and we are trying to find a pattern in those we do see.

I am using the Wacom Intuos Pro Medium PTH-651

I will also add that prior to the update, the glitch was only happening with the Mask Brush Tool. Now it is happening with both the Brush and the Eraser tool.

What version/build of Windows are you running?
In the Wacom Preferences under the "Mapping"-tab, is "Use Windows ink" ticked on ?

WIndows 10 with all updates current.

Windows ink is currently not ticked. Enabling it in the past has created issues.

Please enable it. CO works better with it enabled now, but yep, there were issues with it in the past. Somewhere along Wacom driver updates and Windows touch-updates, it now better with the Ink settings set to on.

You need to enable Windows Ink protocol.

Capture One Pro use the "new" Windows Ink driver.
If you dont use it you loose pen pressure and you have some time vertical lines.
But, this new Windows Ink (Windows 10 tablet protocol) is very unproductive. If you do a long press, it's like a right click. So it's impossible to do, for exemple a Before/After with a Long press + Alt over the Undo button.

Phase One please return to the old protocol (like Art Rage for exemple)

Quite a number of things needs to turned off in order for the Wacom to work as "usual". Check this guide, that completely addresses the issues: https://www.reddit.com/r/wacom/comments ... sure_turn/ (a little warning about the language in the article & guide, but I guess describes a Windows Wacom-user's mental state pretty spot on ;) )

This shi**ty tips  (thanks for the link) doesn't really fix this: long press = right click.

For exemple:
Image

This function is enabled, when i turn off windows ink in my tablet menu.
Windows Ink "driver" is required by C1 Pro 10 & 11...

I will suggest you take one more look at the guide :) there’s an explicit step to deal with “long press to right click”. It does work on all of my Wacom equipped machines.

I'm certain others might have found this oddity during C1PRO 11, but I recalled I ran into this oddity. This creates weird vertical tangents. In my beta tests of version 11, I was doing crazy spirals and snake-like patterns and almost always, I get what you're seeing at the TOP section of the image.

Test Engineer Alex Benes at Phase One sent me the link to the latest WACOM drivers for my dinosaur that's Graphire2!!!

http://www.wacom.com/en-us/support/faqs ... %20tablets

I installed the driver from Alex's link and I no longer see the oddity I reported. Try to see, if the link works. At first, I thought the pen pressure and auto masking checked might be causing these oddities.

I've installed the latest available Wacom driver (5.3.x). This driver is compatible Windows 10 64bits and Windows Ink.

The press and hold' (not really one, but a strange feature) cannot be disabled in Windows Ink mode. That's my problem. All other features (pressure, no glitch, eraser) work very well.

I think the problem is not in Capture One software but in Windows Ink protocol + Wacom driver.
But, i cannot understand why Phase One doesn't allow the choose between these protocols (the old one called Wintab - used by Art Rage, Photoshop CS6,... and the new called Windows Ink)

5.3 is not the latest driver. 6.3.25-5 is, when talking pro-level hardware. According to Wacom Release notes the 5.x version are a "Consumer level" driver, and needs to be uninstalled before the installation of 6.x http://cdn.wacom.com/u/productsupport/d ... 1490788137

I can confirm this works on Fall Creators update, following the steps in the guide previously posted.
