Good point. There are several Capture One logs and the Image Core Processing logs are probably the most interesting. The simplest log is CaptureOneICOCL.log. It shows how Capture One identifies the GPUs. You can find the logs in /Users/username/Library/Logs.

On Windows there are similar logs.

Observation: it is interesting to note that in a thread with title "D850 works in Capture One 12 but not Capture One 20", you seem to have the opposite issue.

Q: if tethering your D850 works in Capture One 20, why bother Capture One 12?

Not really me Paul, you misreaded maybe...about my job as a digital tech I have to welcome photographers’ computer setting and sometimes they’re not updated at the last C1 version.
Anyway could you suggest me how to clean uninstall C1 12? I used C1 old uninstall for 5 and 6 and after Apple Cleaner, but it doesn’t work with Catalina...grazie for everything!

Paolo,

Did you see the full text of this post earlier in the thread?

http://forum.phaseone.com/En/viewtopic.php?f=78&t=37677#p176044

Especially the part about allowing "Photos" access.

(Not being a Mac user I am uncertain about the full implication of that requirement but if it seems to resolve the problem I guess it must be acceptable ...Is "Photos", in this context, an application, a Library or a Folder?)

Thanks a lot Grant, i saw in System pref / privacy / photo / that i just have capture one 20. But there's no Capture one 12 checkbox and i can't understand how to make it appear. I opened C1 12 but no check box appeared yet. Very frustrating, any ideas? I followed uninstall instructions, i will try again tonight to repeat everything...

That link has a command that can be used when the question does not appear. Should save having to re-install?

Not being a Mac person I can't comment on the accuracy of the commands offered.

Hello all,

I like to pick up this thread. I'm facing the same problem, with a slight variation: C1-20 installed on an iMac running Catalina 10.15.2, Nikon D850 hooked up via USB. So far so good. On this iMac we have two user accounts - me and my apprentice. I have an admin account, my apprentice has a regular user account. So - on my account the camera is recognized, on her account it's not. I already tried the privacy/photo routine discussed earlier, but it wouldn't help. Do you have any ideas where I could look? Any feedback is appreciated

It could be an access permission issue. Maybe this article helps:

Hi all,
sorry to ask your help again but i tried one more time to solve my issue (C1 20 works tethered with Nikon d850 but C1 12 not).
I have the new MBP 16 with Catalina and i tried to deinstall several times C1 12 but still doesn't work...even if i have my 2017 MBP perfectly working with Mojave i'm getting little desperate...
In System Preferences / Safety and Privacy / Photo / Privacy i just see C1 12 enabled (and in Mojave on the other MBP is see C1 12 / C1 20 / Photoshop / Exposure etc...)
Thanks for your suggestions!

Hi again,
today i called Apple trying to solve my C1 12 tethering issue. First they didn't know about permission required to tether the camera.
After my keen position they suggested to set up a new user with administrator permissions to install C1 12 there to see if something happening about tethering. I deactivate the license on my original user and after i reactivate it on the new user and overwrite C1 12 on the previous one.

Apple asked me to reactivate C1 20 too and these two messages appeared only for C1 20:

First asks about removable volume access to support tether functionality.

Second message says: C1 doesn't need to have access to Photo Library. This warning appears because it needs access to your Library folder

anyway to make long story short C1 12 doesn't see my Nikon even after this effort. Grotesque...

I upgraded to 10.5.3 and tethering works also on C1 12, done!
But anyway i feel caged with this system, not a good feeling.
Anyway thanks everyone for the help, it's very comforting for me to share experiences with you Ladies and Gentlemen!
