Can't start new catalog or session or recall an old one

All of a sudden today when I start Capture One it brings up the dialogue box with recents and asks me if I want to start a new catalog, session, or whatever... but when I click any of them it tells me it won't do it. When I try to start a new catalog I get a box that say's unable to open "a"... Capture One was unable to open "a". Error: The document could not be created.
