Colour accuracy in studio with tethered Fuji

Postby jasonholtphoto » Fri Dec 14, 2018 10:05 am

Hi. I'm shooting a Fuji XT-2 tethered into Capture One 11.3
The tethering function works great now - colours however are very peculiar.
I shoot Elinchrom lights at low power so the temp rises a bit but I am seeing strange colour shifts.
Yellows look green. Greens look blue. And skins looks too warm. Blond hair looks ginger.

I wanted to use the generic XT-2 profile but I am thinking that is just not good enough.
When clients see the laptop screen they are surprised at the colour shift - I need a better solution.

I'm not sure if this is a profile issue or something else.
Can anyone offer advice on how to achieve a neutral profile?
And/or how to create a custom profile? I tried Lumariver but it wasn't happy with Fuji RAF files.

Help please!

I have no idea about tethering a Fuji and what controls are available to you.

However there have been reports of strange colours form non-tethered images that, last time I saw an update on the reports, suggested they might be connected to certain special shooting modes.

There are threads in the forum in the past month or so.

Is it at all possible that some sort of specialised setting could be in play when you are tethered? Maybe set in the camera but not adjustable via tethering? (Sports mode or something like that rings a bell but maybe not for your camera model ...)

I make this suggestion as I assume it will be a quick thing to check and if you find anything that helps it woould be an instant 'fix'.

I would also suggest creating a Support Case and proving the details to the C1 Tech Support team so that they can investigate.

I forgot to suggest running a trial for V12 in the event that you find nothing of help in the previous suggestions.

There is also a V11.3.2 release (see the software Archive) for which the Release Notes mention some fixes for Windows related to tethering, but not specifically associated with any camera, where the outline description is somewhat generic in terms of the visibility of settings. It may or may not have something in it that helps with your challenge !
