Capture One Camera Support > new Canon EOS R > from when?

I'll get my brand new mirrorless Canon EOS R tomorrow.

When will Capture One support this body?

As this is a User to User forum it is unlikely that anyone knows.

You could ask Phase via a Support case but their policy is to not make public statements before release - which is probably very wise in my opinion.

There is likely to be quite a bit of work to be done - if I read the specification correctly this body produces the new CR3 raw files. Beyond file processing there are things like tethering functionality to consider as well. All of this will need to be tested in the lab alongside whatever developments are required for MAC and WIndows O/S upgrades, the continuing development of the Phase cameras and anything being delivered by other manufacturers that also has consumer demand.

Plus, of course, whatever might be in development for the next Capture One version upgrade at some point. And then there is the question of how all of these activities can be scheduled into the development time line and the software release cycle.

I expect Phase would like to know the level of interest for these new cameras within their existing client base. So it would probably be useful to create a Support Case requesting support for the camera so that they know for certain that there are Capture One users out there who are buying the camera at this early stage of its life.

Many thanks for your response. ;)

I also created a support ticket. Unfortunately, you can not select the "EOS R" - this camera does not exist yet ...

There is still no CR3 support and I had asked for this when the M50 came out earlier in the year. Hopefully it will come soon as it is the Canon standard now.

In April I received this reply " ...Regarding your question about CR3 RAW images, we cannot discuss internal matters with the public but we will take this in as well as part of your feature request! ..."

I'm sure they will find a way to categorise your request!

Hooray… CR3 is supported in 11.3.1
Still a work in progress, imo.

It is still officially unsupported, as it is still work-in-progress, as you point out.

Good news that is in work… and I hope it will be officially supported soon… because the camera will arrive in few days… and I would like to continue to use CO and switch to PRO version (from SONY)

Nice first cut though, just a little over saturation.

Strange... It seems I can open the CR3 files from my M50 but when I try to import the CR3 files from my Eos R it fails. I have CS1 11.3.1 with OSX 10.14

Which is to be expected, as the EOS R is not (yet) supported.

They are both CR3 according to specifications, but that just describes the "container", not the contents.
