Capture One Pro v11.2 for Sony and Wacom Tablet

Postby NNN635669112153344412 » Fri Jul 20, 2018 1:55 am

Has anyone had the following problem with their Wacom Intuos Pro tablet and Cap One.
I am a real estate photographer. I use the mask tool to pain windows so I can adjust light, color, temp ETC.
While drawing a square around the inside of a window just prior to clicking on the fill mask button, one of the brush strokes zooms off either vertically or horizontally. Like it's trying to complete my move. Now I have to erase a line or lines that go off the page.
I have disabled window ink for Cap One but the problem persists.
Uninstalling and reinstalling Wacom drivers has no effect.
Wacom Tech support suggests that it may be a plug in from Cap One.

Does anyone have any ideas or had the same experience?

I have no experience with Wacom tablets, and I don't use Windows. But I do recall previous threads describing a very similar problem, so you might find it helpful to search the forum and see if you can find them.

Thank you, you may have just solved my problem.
I did do the search you mentioned and found the very problem I have.
based on what I've found, it appears that Cap One was set up to be used with Windows Ink, at least in Version 11.2.
I added Cap One to the Wacom tablet and turned on Ink and the problem went away as soon as I began to use Cap One.
Time will tell if it sticks. I have another project I have to edit tonight so we will see.

Well, time has passed and the problem remains.
tonight, Just touching the image caused a straight line to shoot up and out of frame.
Having windows ink activated with Cap One did not solve the problem

I have learned that I can frame a window with issue as long as I don't make a square with one stroke Also I have found that I don't get as many issues if I do the following.
1. Never draw a line from right to left, always go from Left to right.
2. Never go up, always go down when drawing.

Does anyone know if Capture One owns this problem or is it Wacom?

Tried turning off OpenCL?

I've got the same problem, haven't had time to investigate yet but it cures a lot of C1 issues.

Hello, i have the same problem : using the brush while masking makes horizontal or vertical lines.
It happens on my iMac and on my Windows computers (with same tablets, different computer), so it's a strange problem.

Yes, I tried turning off open CL and it had no effect.
This morning I was editing photos and found that Windows Ink would work then it wouldn't It goes on and off unexpectedly.
I can tell when it's on as it makes the little circle when selecting brushes and I lose my gradient mask indicator.
Let me ask again as I have not been given an answer as yet, Do we believe this to be a Cap One problem or a Wacom Problem?

Or perhaps a Windows problem as it does not happen on Mac computers. It would appear that nobody knows how to solve this one or nobody cares to try. It has been around for a long time and it comes up frequently. Everyone that experiences it I hope opens a support case for it with all parties involved so maybe one day it will get fully resolved.

If I remember correctly I was able to solve the problem by following the recommendations in this thread: https://forum.phaseone.com/En/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=27180&p=128393&hilit=wacom+drivers#p128432

Which took me to this reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/wacom/comments ... sure_turn/

Which showed me this info-graphic: http://i.imgur.com/Viuhhok.jpg

I followed all the steps on the info graphic and now if I tick the "Use Windows Ink" check box in the Mapping tab of the Wacom Tablet Properties app I do not have the vertical brush problem. I'll untick the Windows Ink box when using apps other than C1 because of all of the annoying byproducts of using Windows Ink.

From what I understand this may not work for everyone though, unfortunately.

Thank you for this valuable information. I will go to each URL and check them out.
That being said, this morning I did some tests With Cap One Pro for Sony V10. To my amazement, it worked perfectly with Windows Ink on and never thru a line at any time. I did about 5 shots. Never once did it turn itself off like it does on Cap One 11.2. I'm going to do more tests to see if I can make misbehave. I will post the results later today.

I believe I have been given the solution to my problem. It came from Capture One Tech Support.
they asked for my log files and info on my computer. Cap One TS did a regression test and found a driver that they thought would work. This driver is 6.3.24.2. It is an Asian Pacific driver and not found on the American Web page for drivers.
After loading this driver, I've had no problems with throwing of horizontal or vertical lines. It is, however ever so slightly buggy. When using the gradient mask, the mask will not show itself. All i get is the red line. This is not important to me but it might be to others. Also, sometimes i loose the pen. This happens if the computer goes to sleep. I have to unplug the USB plug and then put it back in. For me it is 99.5 % fixed. The tablet works perfectly with all my apps. When Wacom comes out with a new driver, I'll try it but not loose the one I'm using now with is fine for me.
Hope this helps anyone who has had the same issues.

Hello guys,

I have made some videos to show exactly the problem, how to understand it, how you can solve it etc.

Video 1 :
https://youtu.be/cEuPynWtcIY

It explains what's the main problem with Wacom Drivers. It's a video in Windows, but exact same thing in macOS.

Video 2 :
https://youtu.be/_8L26nn_1PY

It explains what's the problem with the "use windows ink" settings enabled/disabled and the problem with Capture One.

Video 3 :
https://youtu.be/K9Da7CB7gIk

It explains what's the problem with the "use windows ink" setting set for different application and while doing Alt+Tab (or CMD+Alt in macOS).

Video made in Windows, but this is the exact same problem in macOS.

If you look at the 3 videos, you will understand (i hope) what's exactly the problem, and how to manage it. But the problem is : Capture One is not able to keep the setting "use windows ink" correctly while switching between different apps.

Wacom Drivers problem on both macOS and Windows ?
Capture One problem on both macOS and Windows ?

This might be a problem specific to the French version of the Wacom driver you are using?

I have put my windows 10 in US-EN language, and i have uninstalled (registry included) drivers.
I have done fresh installation, Wacom US drivers displayed in US-EN in the Wacom Center etc.
I have done a fresh installation of Capture One, in US language.

But, still the same problem.

This has been a long-standing bug for me. It persists irrespective of any of the remedies proposed and across all of the versions of COP I have owned.
I run an AU-English up-to-date windows 10 Pro with a wacom Bamboo CTH-470K tablet.

I have the XP-Pen Deco 03 ( https://www.xp-pen.com/product/89.html ) Wireless Drawing Tablet , and I like it a lot! It’s a little less expensive than the entry level Wacom tablets but has more features, and works well with capture one. The only thing I’ve noticed is when it’s connecting wirelessly there’s a bit of a lag but when it’s wired it’s great.
