How to manage keywords with Applescript

Postby NN635523068592468562UL » Wed May 17, 2017 10:33 am

Hi,
I want to manage my Capture One keywords with Applescript.
I wonder if this possible.

One thing I want to do for example is to merge some keywords...

Thank you very much.

Quite possibly not.
Keywords in Applescript have just been introduced in theis release of Capture One.
I can see how to get keywords of a variant or of the document.
I can see a way of creating keywords.
I can see no obvious way of adding keywords to a variant.

Thank you very much.

Merging is more sophisticted, if the above operations are not solved, then a merge is out of the question.

Hi Eric,
Thanks for your answer!

In fact the merge function could usefully be included to the capture one native UI! -)

I am also (sorry, it is probably a bit out of topic) looking for a way to search for a specific keyword in some .cocatalog at the same time.

The terminal is probably more suitable for this task...

After some thought, I think that AppleScript is the wrong way to approach this problem.

I think the right way is this:
  • All Images
  • apply edits to all selected variants
  • Advanced Search
  • All images with Keyword2
  • Select all images
  • Add keyword1
  • clear Advanced Search
  • Keywords>catalog keywords
  • delete keyword2
  • Keywords>Library keywords
  • delete keyword2

This could probably be done with automater, but I wonder if it's worth the trouble and risk. If an automatic version of this goes wrong, it could screw up your catalog big time.
Cheers

Hi Eric,
Yes, it is more or less the way I currently do it...
Many thanks for your answer.
