Switch to XT or stick with RM3dii (TILT CONCERNS)

Postby NNN636840393314182351 » Wed Mar 10, 2021 9:05 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm curious if there is anyone out there who has made the jump from a tech camera with all the movements of a LF camera to the XT. I am considering making the switch from my RM3dii to the XT for my IQ4, but I definitely am concerned about the absence of tilt.

My hope is that there are those of you out there who had the same concern but made the switch anyway, and then found that it wasn't nearly as big of an issue as anticipated.

I'm also wondering about any other comments those of you who own the XT might have about your experiences with it and how it compares to earlier tech cameras in the field.

Feel free to turn me on to any threads that would help me, if you'd rather not rehash it.

Thanks to all!

I’m toying with the XT body as a lighter weight addition to my Cambo WRS 1600. I’ve purchased a couple of Rodenstock X-shutter lenses (40/70) with tilt that are cabled to the IQ4 and while you don’t get shift metadata you do pick up “normal” lens metadata via the cable. So good experience so far. I’d still need to cable with the XT and no “blue shutter” but the compatibility of the lens mount across both platforms is convenient. Obviously a different proposition with the Arca but an interesting compromise might be getting an X-shutter mounted on your existing lenses. 5k a pop I believe, but worth consideration.
