I had one for a while, but while it was fine as far as optical quality I found it less than practical in the field. The combination was just too slow. This was with an IQ2 80 so I was ISO limited. With a CMOS sensor it may be more workable. If you are shooting something standing still from a tripod it should work, but I’ve taken to either living with a 2x crop in post or when I’m shooting moving wildlife I use a smaller format camera with a longer reach. As far as the 2x converter goes it’s probably better suited to the 150 lens.

Thanks Phil It is going to be used for primary landscape work on a very strong tripod with numerous supporting brackets to stop any vibration I use the AS Cube 1 which supports the body and the lens is supported with two yokes foam mounted. The Schneider converter arrived today so will be out tomorrow on test.

After testing the 2x converter I found that the converter works with the Phaseone 75-150 4.5 FPS lens also, be it in manual use only and the Schneider 120 PC/TS 5.6 lens again manual use which this lens is anyway.

I use the 2X with the 240 mm but only on a tripod for static subjects. The lack of autofocus limits its use for wildlife or anything moving briskly. I use the IQ4-150 so speed is not an issue.

Just playing about I used the 645 Auto extension tube N403 with a x2 converter and a 120 macro lens , Got some interesting close up shots The extension tube gave clearance for the converter and worked well for limited macro work.
