Removing XF back cover plate?

Postby NN634944040511276444UL » Thu May 04, 2017 4:45 am

I realize this is a really dumb question ... so please excuse my ignornce.

I've just received an XF camera body and I dont know how to remove the back cover plate i.e. the plate that needs to be removed so the digital back can be attached. I should RTFM - I know :) I've done that.

The manual has a section titled:
Removing the IQ Digital Back from the XF Camera Body
"Push the IQ Digital Back lock slider toward the XF camera body while simultaneously pressing the IQ Digital Back release button. Note that the lock slider acts as a safety catch."

But there is no section (or reference) in the manual about removing the back cover, which does not have a release button or lock slider.
So, please help me out. How the heck can the back plate be removed?

I dont want to apply brute force and damage something.

It can be opneded by pushing down on the top between the two hooks until you see the plastic giving way, then it just lifts off.

Yes, the bottom section of the cover (at the DB mounting hook) has a bit of flexible plastic that bends and the hooks at the top (near the viewfinder) get clearance from the plastic cover, which can then be tilted off.

Of note, if you have the camera resting on a surface, there's often not enough clearance for the cover to bend downward; you'll find it's much easier when holding the camera in hand.

This question shows that the manual of the Phase One camera does really need a work over! Ask f.e. which firmware i do have installed at the moment. no answer. Since manuals are pdf only its no problem to change this on a daily basis if necessary

Hi Michael

The procedure above is identical.
Question is from 2017 and manuals have been updated.
Also we have made videos available about this:

In regards to responses, Phase One support answers within minutes.
I looked up last time you where in contact with us which was in December 2019, our response time to you was one and a half minute.
I believe that being a fantastic response time.

Note that I am referring to Phase One support for Phase One camera owners. (phaseone.com)
I cannot comment on the response time of Capture One support. (captureone.com)
