Import nothing but color tags of a whole session

Postby polpo » Thu Oct 30, 2014 9:56 am

Hello everyone,
We got a session duplicated on two separate external harddrives.
Drive A now has been color corrected
Drive B has not been color corrected, but meanwhile a selection has been made (color ratings)

Is it possible to import the color settings of the whole session from Drive B to Drive A without overriding the color adjustments?
I'm talking about several sessions containing approx 10.000 images

We had to do this because of "time matters". The color corrections had to be made somewhere else - during this time the client was choosing images... (ok, it isn't faster as it takes time later to import color tags later, I know)
Working server-based is not possible. No Internet on location etc

Thanks for any ideas
Paul

Your problem is that both image adjustments as the color rating are written to the same kind of files. When you collect the adjustments files (.cos files in Settings70 subfolder) either the image adjustments or the color tags are lost.

However...

What you could do is make Capture One on drive B write the color tags to XML files. Note that I would prefer star rating in this case, as color tags-to-XML is not rock solid between application, but probably no issue inside Capture One.
How-to? Capture One menu > Preferences > Image tab > Metadata section > Auto Sync Sidecar XMP > Full Sync
Do not forget to switch it off again when you are done for performance reasons.

Next, copy the XML files (from the image folder) to drive A, same folder. On drive A, open CO7 and reload metadata.
How-to? Select images, File menu, Load Metadata.

Experiment with one folder or a few images.

Thank you Paul - this works quite well.
Now Automator has to do the rest...
