IQ 260 live view via USB

Postby NN217188UL » Thu Mar 13, 2014 12:29 am

Hi,

when I bought my IQ260 last year in may, we were promised live view via USB would soon be possible with a firmware upgrade. I often use live view via the firewire to thunderbolt connector on my retina macbook pro, but this is very unreliable, I keep loosing the connection, always have to restart the back, then C1 freezes. Loosing a lot of precious time. So now live view is possible over usb with the IQ250, when do we get it on the IQ260?

And powering the back over usb, so we don't need a fresh back battery every hour.

Thanks

Steven

It's been available for some time now.... since the release of the IQ250.

This has been available since the IQ2 was released. Keep in mind however that it relies on power from your USB which is not much, especially on a Laptop. A 7.2 Volt system cannot sustain power from a 5 Volt plug. You will ALWAYS need a battery with the IQ systems and using USB to trickle charge will simply prolong the life of the battery.

Oh great. Is it already possible to have the live view on an iPad while shooting a TC?

No it is not. This is something we are investigating.

@Drew It's been a year now, are you still "investigating" live view to an iPad?

We are... we're waiting for Apple's iPads to have sufficient resources to make this a workable option.
Currently the resources necessary for this are simply not available without significant compression, delivering an unusable Live View. Once the resources are available we'll be able to revisit this as an option.
