H20 + H25 not working on new Mac mini + OSX Lion

Hi guys,

Here at the studio we have a problem with the H20 and H25 backs... It simply won't shoot into Capture One.
The mini's are brand new with OS X Lion, and I've tested with version 6.3 of Capture One.

We have a P21+ back as well, and that works with out a problem!

The H25 and H20 can with no problems shoot into my 1,5 year old MacBook Pro, also with Lion and 6.3 Capture One.

Note: When using the H25, a solid black image is transferred, when using the H20, nothing happens. Everything seems to work, the flash goes off, the back is beeping and doing it's thing, but it just ain't making a image.

- Does anyone have a solution for this? How can it be? I hope you can help!!!

I suspect it is a power issue. For the H20 and H25 you need a powered repeater to tether to the Mac Mini.

Thanks for the reply.

We bought a repeater with external power supply - didn't work!
Do you by any chance know of a repeater or other product that will make it work?
Would be easier, instead of try all the repeaters out there :)

Thanks in advance!

Any follow up or resolution to this issue? I'm using my H25 back successfully out of the Firewire800 port on my older iMac but have had no success with the latest iMac (Quad core i5).

Details:
Intel Core2 Duo iMac, running Lion, Capture 1Pro 6.1.1: FireWire800>400 Adapter>H25 back. This WORKS
Intel Core2 Duo iMac, running Lion, Capture 1Pro 6.3.4: FireWire800>400 Adapter>H25 back. This WORKS
Quad core i5 iMac running Lion, CaptureOne Pro 6.3.4: Firewire800>400 Adapter> H25 back. Doesn't work.

**UPDATE: Tech call with Apple. The voltage for the 800 port is standard throughout all iMacs, and the 800 port can 'see' external devices that are plugged in through this port. So that rules out the iMac.

iMac, laptops and Mini mac does not have sufficient power.
This is just how it is. Power level has also shifted from model to model so we are forced to say across the line that none of them works with out a power conditioner.
Here is the solution http://www.phaseone.com/en/Search/Artic ... nguageid=1

Hi, I'm also running an H20 on an RZ67. I bought the repeater (Phase One 70606), but I cannot get it to work. If I tether the back directly to the computer it captures fine. If I introduce the repeater without the battery it also captures without a problem. When I turn the battery on, i tethers, but when I shoot the repeater's LED light goe sto red and the back receives no more power. It's like it triggers a fuse. What could be the problem? I got the repeater to use the back with thunderbolt on my new imac, but I keep getting snagged up even on my macbook pro that powers the back just fine without a repeater.

I use OS X 10.8.3 and have tried both C1 6 and 7.

Thanks you in advance for any input!

Sounds to me like you are using the battery charger the power the conditioner rather then a AC kit.
The battery charger can only be use to charge the battery and not to drive the conditioner (same plug)
See here for reference images

Hi Ulf,

Thanks for your comment. I use the AC adapter/charger to charge a battery, then I take the battery and attach it to the repeater unit. Isn't that how it works? So when I try to use the repeater it should get its power from the battery. I realize I cannot use the charger to power the repeater unit directly. Yet when I set it up in that way (nothing connected to the AC adapter and battery power only) I still get the red LED light and power interruption to the back.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Meike

Sounds like the battery not working as it should in this case.
I suggest getting the AC kit for the power conditioner.

I'm using a late 2011 15inch Macbook Pro i7 (osx 10.7.5) with a H25 hooked up to a Hasselblad 503cw, works fine most of the time, just seems to suffed the odd missfire where all seems to work as it should but no image or black image is recorded but I put this down to something being out of sync ??

Hi this is due to the laptop not providing enough power to the back.
