H20 for Hasselblad 500 C

Postby NNN636601255746064248 » Thu Apr 26, 2018 9:55 pm

Dear all,

I would like to ask for 2 clarifications in regard to Phase one H20 ( and general only tethered backs).

- Firstly I would like to ask to those who use it, if is required to have the computer all the time open.
I was thinking if after setting some aspects it would be possible to put the Mac and battery in the backpack and shoot, without for every photo need to open the Mac, capture software, etc.
- The second point that I am more concern is the focus screen of my 500c. When using a digital back like H20 is it required to change the screen focus?
As the 500c doesn't have the possibility to exchange the focus screen ( without technical support), this could represent a considerable issue.

Could someone help me to clarify this points
I am looking forward to hearing from you

Thanks in advance

Hi

I have moved this topic in to the correct forum-

1. An H20 have to be online (connected to a computer) in order to capture.
2. It is of course much more convenient to use a screen which shows the crop area when capturing so you know what you are shooting.
Changing focus screen on a Hasseiblad 500 is super easy.
Lift the ground glass, drop down the screen and then place the ground glass on top.

Dear Ulf,
Many thanks for your answer that's very appreciated.
Apologise for my English and probably I express myself not correctly and if possible I would like to ask for some clarification.

1- I was imaging to walk into the city shooting photos. I was wondering if everytime I would like to shoot a single photo I should open the computer, and maybe click capture and then shoot my camera. And for a second photo I should do the same or if I could just keep the computer in my backpack and shoot. I probably didn't express myself again correctly, but the intent is to understand if I the computer need to be "only" connected and online or olso phically open ( that would make things more complicated as I would have always camera and Mac around.

2- my 500C has a screw fix focus screen. I was thinking that the screw where not just a fixing system but also a focusing system ( 1 turn more or less and the focus is different).
Could you please clarify what you mean for [ Lift the ground glass, drop down the screen and then place the ground glass on top]? Is not this possible only for 500 C/M and later models?

Many thanks in advance and looking forward to hearing from you

Regards

Hi again

1. When it come to Mac Books, they in generally goes to "sleep" when closed so my guess is that you will loose connection if you don't have then screen open.

2. I have seen a lot of Hasselblad 500 over my many years with Phase One but I have never seen one you could not lift the ground glass on. (This might of course be an exception..)

You can find the H20 Getting started guide here:
https://www.phaseone.com/en/SupportMain ... Backs.aspx
On page 6 it explains how to mount the mask.

Many thanks again Ulf,
Apologise but I'm very new to this camera, digital backs and photography in general.
Very appreciated all your comments and the link to the manual.
I will read carefully and set the steps to find an H20 for my 500C
