Extension ring compatibility

Postby NNN635316898702034765 » Sat Mar 29, 2014 11:48 am

Hi,

I own a recent Mamiya system (645DF + Aptus II 8 and few lenses). I need to buy extension tubes but I'm confused with compatibility.

Can I put "older" manual extension tube (see pic) between my body and lenses without problem ? I know I'll lose the AF of course but what about aperture control ? I read somewhere that my camera could simply refuse to shoot.

Thanks for your answers.

Hi

Aperture would not work as well since there is no electronically connectors like there is on the newer extension tubes.
This old mechanical extension tubes can only be used with old mechanical lenses where you can set aperture on the lens.

Ok, thank you very much for your quick answers.
I'll buy the new one instead.

Keep in mind that the newer Auto Extension tube do not
support auto focus.

Thanks FredBgg, I never use the AF anyway when shooting macro still-life.
