1/800th sync with Lumedyne

Postby Alan911 » Sun Aug 19, 2012 3:45 pm

Hi
Currently using a Hasselblad H2 with P45+, fastest shutter speed is 250th when synching with an external Lumedyne battery pack flash. If I changed to a 645DF would I be able to use 1/800th. I am generally shooting at the beach in sunshine and the flash is not powerful enough to cope with shooting at f16. By increasing shutter speed 2 stops approx it could. Would I need the V grip air or is this only relevant to Profoto flash. I would be shooting with the camera set on manual 1/800th shutter and aperture to suit. I would the balance the flash manually to suit. If this is feasible would I use the hot shoe with wireless trigger to sync or the sync socket on camera or P45+. If this is not possible then would it work with a Profoto 7B battery powered flash pack using the built in trigger on V grip.I hope this makes sense,I hav eread the online manual and specs and can find reference to Metz adaptors etc. The Lumedyne has built in Metz spec TTL but I wanted to use manually as may want to over on under expose subject in relation to background
Thanks

Two tips, as I do not have all the answers

You might want to read this thread, as it is partly related.

Second, what lens do you use on the 645DF? I assume you have a leaf shutter lens like the S-K LS series lenses.

All H series lenses sync to a max of 1/800th so no need to change systems, how are you connecting the Lumedyne...?

If you are using a radio trigger that may be why everything goes dark over 1/250th.

Hard wire it ( using sync cable) or buy a pocket wizard 2 set of radio triggers, they will get you up to 1/500th.

If you really want to get up to 1/800th buy the profoto air kit, it works on more than just profoto packs.

I know very little of the excellent Lumidyne kit but I do know you also may have to tweak the H2 in the menu... True exposure or something to get accurate exposure at 1/800th.
