Leaf Valeo 22wi - Leaf Capture Remote

Hi, I have had a Valeo 22wi back (with digital magazine storage) for over a year now on an AFD body. I shoot mainly landscape and occasionally weddings. Up until now I have processed my work in CS5 ACR / Win7. The Ipaq I have isn't too great so have shot like film and see the results later on, not at time of shooting. I have just purchased a used Macbook (13" - 2.4Ghz - 4Gb RAM - 10.5.8 ) and want to use Leaf Capture to get the best out of the Valeo 22wi. I want to view the images as I shoot on location and was heading towards purchasing an Ipod / Ipad for this purpose. Can an Ipod touch replace the Ipaq with this back, so I can shoot with the magazine storage and see the images using wi / bluetooth to an ipod /ipad ? The more I am looking into this the more confused I am getting. Do I have to shoot tethered to the Macbook to use the Capture Remote 2 and Ipod touch? I started thinking that that was the way to set up the system. Now I am thinking, if the image appears on the laptop screen, why would I want it on an ipod screen as well ?? What are my options at present with what I have ? Thanks

The two options are:

1. Use the iPaq with Bluetooth or cable directly to the back
2. Use an iPod/ iPad/ iPhone and shoot tethered to the laptop: The Mac can be a few meters away and the iPod can be mounted on the camera

A 3rd option would be to look for an Aptus back...

Hi,

this is an old post but if someone needs this info here it is.
As far as my experience goes I can use my iPod with LC remote software when shooting tethered. The computer uses remote server software to send the files. The trick is that both the iPod and the computer should be connected to one and the same wifi network. In my studio I use old router to create wireless network and it works just fine. But you can't use it outdoors. But as I think now NOKIA have Joiku spot network sharing software. Maybe if you can connect the iPod and the Mac to the Joiku spot it might work.

I hope this helps someone :D

yaya - I'm interested in the 3rd option you hint to. My Aptus 22 has a Bluetooth transmitter and I'm assuming the 3rd option allows a DIRECT connection to the iPad. Can you expand the conversation on your 3rd option?

Thanks,
Bob

What I meant is that instead of using a screen-less back (the Valeo) the OP can look at an Aptus with a built-in screen....
