P30+ and Mamiya RZ67 Pro IID

Postby NNN636662951870570536 » Thu Jul 26, 2018 5:55 pm

Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding a P30+ and a Mamiya RZ67 Pro IID. I recently bought that back and used it with my Mamiya 645 AFD II. I now want to connect it to my Mamiya RZ as well, so I bought a Mamiya adapter plate HX 701 for the Pro IID and attached the back to it. From what I've found in the Internet it should work without any cabling required, but when I tried it won't fire with the R-M lever in central position. I switched to M and it fired. I'm just wondering if this is supposed to be so.
Best regards,

Oliver

Update:

Ok, I've found the required information for the R-M-lever in the manual

but I came across two other questions:

1.) when shooting on Mamiya RZ 67 Pro IID the image file doesn't contain any information regarding lens or aperture?
2.) the DB is running on an older firmware. Where can I get the recent firmware and what is required to install it? Can this be done via CF card? I still have MACs with a firewire port, but they are mostly running onrecent OS versions. Is this still supported?

Best regards,

Oliver

Hi

I am glad you have figured this out.

Some answers

1. The RZ's electronics are very limited and this type of communication is not provided for the camera back to record.

2. This can be done with CF card on IQ backs.
P / P+ series backs can have the firmware updated over firewire port.
It requires:
1. Phase One firmware updater application
https://www.phaseone.com/en/Download/Ca ... are/P.aspx
2. A computer with native firewire port.
Adapters like thunderbolt to firewire etc cannot be used.
Kind Regards
