Flash sync speed

Postby Alan Rei » Thu Mar 20, 2008 1:18 am

Hi to all,
I can't find the specifications for sync X speed of the new camera. This is one of the most important specifications for the camera and I think it is nice to know what is the maximum speed of this new platform.

Thank you.

Not sure but it does have both 1/4 and 3/8 inch tripod sockets.

because the not relevant info regarding the socket is given when the sync speed is not...

I think you have to take it more as a sarcastic post than anything... it myself made me laugh...

Flash sync is 1/125 sec with the focal plane shutter. We are currently in development of new leaf shutter lenses as well which will make it the only camera to offer the benefits of both.

This is good news Jon, but how long does it take to produce such kind of lenses, and what is the range of focals? Is there any Shift and Tilt lens in the set???

I'm really interested in fast sync speed and shift/tilt lenses at the moment, I have many clients with this kind of photography in mind.

Thank you for answers.

Ciao

Exact release dates for future lenses we can not provide. But when it comes to tilit shift there is a 45mm from Hartblei already available.

Yes, but the Hartblei glass sucks and is nowhere near professional requirements. I, and many others I think, would really love a quality tilt/shift solution that doesn't involve lugging around a large format camera. Using the adapter for the rz67 would be an option, but for that to be a viable option I think we need a new wide-angle lens made for the 645 sensor.

Wasn't there a manual focus Mamiya 645 lens with movements (can't remember whether it was T & S or just Shift). They are still usable on the AFD mounts I believe.

Yes there is a manual focus Mamiya 50mm shift lens. It is no longer in production, but will work on the new camera.

i am not 100% sure on why the sync speed is only 1/125th of a second? top model dslrs that use focal plane shutters have faster sync speeds of 1/250th. how and why is this not possible with the 645?

Primarily because the shutter has to move so much farther on the 645 format. Along with the 645DF we are launching a line of Leaf shutter lenses which sync at speeds up to 1/800 sec or up to 1/1600 with enabled P40+ and P60+

Hello,
Could we have some news about the support of leaf shutter lenses in P1 645AF/Mamiya 645 AFD III since the photokina 2008 annoucement? (The 1/800 sync speed with the 80mm Sekor LS D, for the 645 AFD III) ?
Is that evolution abandonned?

Hi

There will not be support for LS lenses with AF/AFDIII
Camera has been discontinued for quite some time and was replaced with the DF well before LS lenses started to ship.
