Mamiya 645 AFD focus issue

Postby NNN635145102141699174 » Wed Sep 11, 2013 2:50 pm

Hi,

I recently bought a Mamiya 645 AFD + 80mm 2.8 + Leaf Valeo 17wi back.
When I'm taking a portrait shot with it, and focussing on the eyes, the tip of the nose is sharp.
At first I thought it was me focussing bad, or the model moving, but back home I did some focus test, it was clear that it was not my fault.
The camera has some major front focus problems, is there any way I can fix this? I've put a lot of my savings into this project, I hope that not all my money is waisted now.. :(

Check the photo: focussed on the phone, but the dust blower in front of it is sharp. Hope someone has a solutions for this!

Thanks!!

Please perform this simple test and provide the results to your dealer. They can then proceed accordingly to test further or arrange service;

It works best if you have more than one lens (to eliminate the lens) and if you contact your dealer they may be able to test with a different body (to eliminate the body).

Hi, I just came back from Eyes on Media (a dutch PhaseOne/Mamiya dealer).
We did several tests, and the outcome was not what I hoped it was, it was the back :(
Does anyone know if I can fix this problem myself?

Here you can find the test results, the upper photo is with a Mamiya 80 2.8 + Mamiya AFD + P45+ the lower photo is with a Mamiya 80 2.8 + Mamiya AFD + Leaf Valeo 17wi

It looks like the Valeo needs to be re-focused.
This can be done through a service check with Mamiya-Leaf
Your dealer can arrange for this service.

Hi, thanks for the response. Just also got another response from the dealer, he said Yair could calibrate it.
He said it's gonna cost around 600 euro's. I just graduated from the photo academy and spent all my savings in this setup and can't afford to get it fixed 600 euro's. Isn't there really nothing I can do myself? :( :( :(

Hi

Unfortunately Yair can not do this and nor can you. It has to go in to a special rig with microscope to be adjusted correctly.
