The Black Paint on the DF+ body

Postby Yankov » Fri Oct 04, 2013 10:44 am

I got a new DF+ body from the dealer like 10 days or so. I was working outdoor yesterday and put some gaffer tape on the body to secure the sync cord to the Broncolor. Guess what? When we peel off the gaffer tape, the paint comes off at the same time..... Any thoughts?

Bring it to your dealer. Clearly that shouldn't be possible as it's a powder-coated/baked magnesium.
If powder-coat peeled off with the tape then the tape was either incredibly acidic (like paint stripper) or the magnesium wasn't properly cleaned before coating.
As it is powder-coat paint, paint stripper will remove it but typical tape should be fine. Going forward use something standard and known to be safe like gaff.
