Support for Canon 5D Mark IV??

Postby MikeSp » Sat Sep 10, 2016 8:46 pm

When might we expect an update in C1 ver 9.x to support the new Canon 5D Mark IV dSLR body?

You'll know when it happens - Phase One never pre-announces support or provides roadmaps.

It would be nice to know at least which quarter they are shooting for since I can no longer use C1 Pro until they support my camera.

According to DPReview and several other sites, ver 9.3 has been released (although I cannot find it as an update to 9.2 YET) and of the various new camera models listed, is the 5DIV -- YEA!!!

Mike,

You don't have to wait for the servers to catch up with the "Update check" facility.

If you want it just go into the site and download it.

If you have registered for the Newsletter you probably should have received an email to tell you about the new release earlier today.

And there have been a number of mentions in the forums too. Plus of course a post or two from last week mentioning the possibility of something of interest in what was then the current Beta candidate, now the released product.

The 5D4 files look great to my eyes based on the RAW files downloaded from dpreview. I wish I could justify the need to buy one ..... working on it. May need the new lenses as well.

Got 9.3 as suggested - looking forward to processing raw files in a couple of days - stepping up from a Mark II to the Mark IV should produce interesting results - am a BIG fan of C1Pro.

Hi Mike,

may I ask if you have successfully processed RAW files from the 5D MK4. I just tried a customer's RAW files (for a support case) and I wasn't able to import them with success. Maybe they have been shot in dual pixel raw mode.

Thanks,
Gerrit

Gerrit,

You could be right about the Dual Pixel issue.

Does any software except Canon DPP support the dual pixel option yet?

FWIW I don not have a 5D4 but I did download some RAW file (from DPREVIEW) and they processed very well indeed using C1 9.3.

HTH.

CO is able to import, adjust (with CO adjustments) and process the Dual Pixel raws. If you are not able to do this, please create a Support case, so we can take a deeper look.

Interesting Christian, I'm impressed.

My apologies for assuming this would not be possible.

Presumably the processing capability does not include the focus adjustment actions claimed for DPP?

The release notes and current camera support state that Dual-Pixel RAW are NOT supported. Dual-Pixel is used for micro focus adjustments.

It does not say that the raw is not supported. It is formulated in that way to indicate that AF correction aspect is not supported, but the files themselves are indeed supported.

My apologies Christian but I did state that the Micro-Focus are not supported, although probably not as clear as it could be.

http://www.rawdigger.com/howtouse/canon ... -are-there
will C1 support this ability to get additional stop from highligts in dual-pixel raws?
