Printing

Postby NNN636805729870992444 » Thu Jan 23, 2020 12:54 am

I got a Canon Pro 1000 just before the holidays. I have a calibrated monitor and use the paper profiles from the paper manufacturer for printing.
I find that when printing directly from C1, (file/print), the photos have a slight magenta tint. If I open the tif version in Canon's DDP4, then print with Print Studio Pro - the prints are fine. I also took the same file to a professional print shop that has a Pro 1000, and the print is also fine.
What are people's experience in printing directly from C1? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan

Hi,

A magenta color shift usually means that the color profile for the printer/paper pair has been applied twice. Did you make sure that color handling is not enabled in both C1 and the printer driver ?

Otherwise, the print module of C1 is not what could be expected from a professional imaging software. Just forget it and use something else.

If you are printing you really should take a look at Qimage. It deals with everything from layout, a superb print sharpening option to automatically optimising the image for the type of printer eg Canon or Epsom

I can confirm that QImage has been able able to solve printing problems that Lightroom or PS could not deal with. It's a good software which however deserves a better user interface. The current one is really archaic.

How do you download Print Studio Pro? The Canon web site shows screen shots of it, but when you go to any supported printer page (e.g., the 1000 pro) to download it, it is not listed with the other software. Same thing happens if you click on "get the plugin." I presume, it only works with certain Canon Printers, but Pro 1000 is one of them.

Note: I am using a Mac with Catalina, but I could not find it when designating Windows OS, either.

Here is what I get when I look for it - https://tw.canon/en/support/0200493310/11 This is the MAC version. I have the Windows version. When running - it is a plug in for DDP4.

Is there a Canon US site with a version certified compatible with MacOS 10.15?

I don't know what versions work where. (I use a PC) I would call Canon in the US. I've heard they have good support.
