Import Dialogue does not Support Canon 6D Mark 2

Postby Axnfell » Tue Jun 04, 2019 8:12 am

Hi,

I have just received a new Canon 6D Mark II and taken few test shots and connected the camera to the Laptop (Dell XPS 15 2in1 Windows 10 1903).

In the explorer window it see's the camera and the directory where the images are on the SD Card in the camera, but if I go to Import them into Capture One it does not see the drive or the Camera at all.

Any ideas how to get around this without having to take the card out of the camera each time?

Download the files to a folder on you PC and then import to C1 from there.

If using catalogues you can leave the files where you downloaded them by using referenced files.

If using sessions you can import to the session file structure if you wish or simply open the session and navigate to the folder in which you saved the files. NB: Navigate just to the folder, do not open the folder in C1.

Otherwise, yes, take the card out of the camera is the normal requirement for most camera bodies. There are a few exceptions, notably some Fuji bodies in recent times that appear to have options built in to the camera settings for different connection possibilities.

Thanks for that Grant, was hoping that I would not have to do that, a real shame as both Lightroom and On1 handle this feature very well and saves removing cards was hoping this would do the same...

Never mind

Thanks anyway

It likely has something to do with the available camera settings that are available to C1 for full computer controlled tethering.

That and the historical situation when camera port speeds were very slow and used a lot of precious battery charge. And, of course, if they were the only means of download that a user had they tied up the camera whilst downloading.

Card readers, especially SD readers built in to computers, made more sense for many reasons.

For many users who likely use multiple cards in a shoot non-camera card reader makes a lot of sense and generally saves a lot of time.
