Primary Drive crashed and trying to connect to back up

Postby NN636648481856409604UL » Sun Apr 28, 2019 7:34 pm

Greetings, I keep my files (in folder GWCapture) on an external drive, called (Ext2), but that drive has crashed. Luckily I always back up the drive with a back up (MyDrive, which has copy of that folder GWCapture) and now I'm trying to connect to the files on the back up. How do I do that?

It's unclear, but if you're working in a catalog, you can link the image references to the backup files via the Locate function, as outlined in this KB article:

The first thing I'd be inclined to try would be to rename the backup drive to the same name as the original. I'm pretty sure C1 uses the drive's Finder-visible name, not the unique volume identifier assigned when the drive/partition was created. So if I'm right, renaming the drive should be all you need to do. Otherwise you'll have to go through Relocate Originals as previously mentioned and when/if you replace the failed drive, do it again.

Thanks for the two good recommendations. Using the Locate function, I've been able to connect single photos one by one, but can CaptureOne connect to multiple photos in a single pass, as for can Lightroom?

If you go to the Folders section of the Library tool, and right click on any folder, there is a Locate function that can connect folders and even the folders inside that folder.
It pays to start with the highest level folder possible.
