Capture One Pro Studio already support Colorchecker...

Postby NN635412303032341950UL » Sat Apr 13, 2019 2:27 am

I never heard of Capture One Pro Studio until today. It's more like specialized for commercial photography with different products.

While I was reading it, I saw a feature about ColorChecker. With Capture One Pro Studio, it can create an ICC profile without using X-rite software.

How come Capture One Pro 12 does not have this feature?

Then it would be one less reason to buy Pro Studio?

Cultural Heritage has the ability to invert along with other film scanning functions that Pro does not have either.

That feature is for film negatives. ColorChecker feature is a different story. Also, I dont see any reasons for having another C1P version like Studio. At least CH has totally different uses.

My point was that this isn't the first time there has been a version of Capture One that has some features that would be nice to see in the standard Capture One Pro release. Plenty of people are processing film negatives in C1 that don't have CH, just like plenty of people would like to see color checker natively supported in C1 (though it is pretty simple to use it with the color checker software as well). Like CH, The Studio release is targeting a very specific subset of the photography community as well.

Studio appears to be a Studio Business focused concept that goes into areas that are not software feature and function set related.

That is probably the reason for it. It's a business relationship management tool focused on productivity and control in a business environment. Operational specialism not entirely unlike the needs of the CH users in terms of having something specifically tailored to requirements unlike the regular C1 arrangement which is rather open and free of 'management' so as to appeal to individuals who do not have corporate scale budgets supporting their work.

Capture One Studio, as a concept, is less about the image features and more about making the studio business process more manageable. Or so it seems.

Yes. As a business package not just a software application.

And with maximum benefits only available with Macs. Applescript being a key component.
