Deleting RAW+JPEG

Postby NNN636820845114746867 » Thu Jan 03, 2019 4:00 am

I've imported both my RAW and associated JPEGs into Capture One.

For clarity and convenience I've hidden all the JPEGs.

Is there any way, when deleting a given RAW file, to automatically delete the associated JPEG? Deleting both individually seems like twice the hassle, not to mention the annoyance of having to toggle on JPEG viewing every time I want to delete a photo.

Thanks

No. A file is an original file not some sort of pair as far as Capture One is concerned.

What leads you to import the jpgs?

OK. Lightroom recognizes JPEG/RAW pairs and deletes both when you delete one. I was curious as to whether or not Capture One was capable of the same.

My photo collection is mix of JPEGs only and JPEG/RAW pairs. I guess the question is, how would I import the JPEGs where there are only JPEGs, and RAW files where there are JPEG/RAW pairs. I guess you could literally go folder by folder and manually specify, but this sounds painful and time consuming.

Any ideas?

For the JPEGs only I can only think of going folder by folder and skip the JPEG/RAW folders.

For the JPEG/RAW folders you can use the global filter and exclude JPEG. In the Import dialog you will not see JPEGs and they are not imported.

Adding to this ... you can also filter or sort by file type extension as part of the import file selection process. Also other values are available for filtering but these two seem relevant here.

You may also find it useful to split the RAW and JPG files into separate but paired folders on import. That would make it easier to assess, after import, which pairs of folders fully matched in pairs and which partially matched and so make it easier to decide which jpgs to eliminate.

HTH.

I have written a programm to import, name and maintain RAW and JPG in corresponding relation. But this is outside of C1.
If you understand german language have a look at this. I use it myself as I try to keep my memoryspace in its bounds.
