Tangent Ripple

Postby David532 » Fri Dec 02, 2016 12:05 pm

Has anyone tried using the "affordable" Tangent Ripple with V10? Does it have sufficient inputs to be useful or does V10 require a Tangent Element or Wave?

I have one on my desk :) ... (actually also the full Element kit) 8)

Ripple in its base design is purely for the Color Balance 3 way tool (in its default layout). You can with some mapping do some other tasks like Overlay and maybe even Brush dynamics

Element is/can be modular: You don't need necessarily need all of it, but the default map shipped does use all of it.

You can also mix and match because of the way we have used the mapper into our control layer. The Kb panel in my mind is a must have for the sliders and you could use this with the Ripple.

Another option is the Element VS ipad app, which emulates all the Element Hardware. This though lacks the haptic input from the controller, but is cheap and fun to try out the multi touch concepts of simultaneous adjustment.

We'll be doing more stories on the implementation soon. Stay tuned!

I hoping / waiting for Loupedeck support, Tangent is out of my league (and LD has a better UI in my opinion) ;-)

I've actually been using a Midi fighter twister from DJ Tech Tools. I've got it connected to Capture One via Bome Midi Translator Classic, works pretty well. The only issue I have with it actually has to do with the Capture One software where if you adjust something manually using the mouse (like choosing a white balance mode), it will keep the focus on the dialog you last clicked on thus keyboard commands wont work until you click on the image again. Haven't figured out how to get around that yet, but I can edit photos start to finish without touching the mouse.

Hi everyone,
I haven't test the tangent ripple yet but I'm actually really interested in the Midi Fighter Twister solution given by NN636082693618759645UL, this could really improved my Capture one workflow. I've seen it working with MIDIgrade and DaVinci resolve.

@ NN636082693618759645UL: Would you share your Bome Midi Translator Pro template (.bmtp file) to map the Fighter Twister? That would be very great!!

Nice day

The Tangent Ripple is the latest entry level 3-way color control panel from Tangent Devices. While the cost of professional color grading software has dropped dramatically, hardware control panels have not, until now.

I use tangent wave 2 since 5 months
find it very useful, you can customize all the shortcuts,
I't's time saving you don't need to look at your keyboard
just one little bug for the zoom with two screens
I have my wave and on the right the wacom with the pen to draw lines

Hi,

I’d like to buy the wave 2 but I did not understand how many commands I can assign to the knobs.
In the webinar for Tangent Elements I saw tha is possible to have different banks for the kb module, is it the same for the wave 2? Having only 9 knobs seems restrictive for the my workflow in C1.

Thanks!
