I have several Panasonic M43 cameras and a good collection of lenses. I note that some of my favorite lenses, like the Panasonic 12-32, 14-45, 15mmF/17 and 35-100/F2.8 are not listed in the CaptureOne list of supported lenses, never the less images taken with these lenses seem to work in COP7 and COP8.

Before I invest too many hours in editing images in COP, I would like to understand what this lens support actually means.

I have all of those lenses and Capture One 11 and 12 works quite OK with those lenses. CO 12 has lens profiles for the 12-35/2.8, 35-100/2.8 and 15/1.7. I don't see 12-32 on the list.

One can choose the following profiles for a lens:
  • Generic
  • Generic PinCushion
  • Manufacturer Profile (i.e. the profile provided in the image file)
  • Phase One profiles for various lenses

Capture One 8 is so old I can barely remember using it (except I remember not likeing the performance very much). I would have had the 12-35 and the the 35-100 at that time. I'm not sure about the 15/1.7, which is one of my favorites, and the 12-32.

I don't see much difference between the Phase One profile and the Manufacturer Profile for the 35-100/2.8. There's a slight change in the distortion correction.

I have been asking Phase One for years to add the capability for JPEGS from a Panasonic camera to show the Lens Name and Whitebalance . The Phase One supporters always politely agree that this should be fixed but nothing is ever done. This in my opinion is the biggest problem using Capture One with Panasonic cameras.

That's not because its hard to assign a lens profile, it's because it's impossible to sort Panasonic JPEGs by lens name.
Cheers, Eric
