Leaf Aptus II-5 vs Mamiya DM22

Yup, those are my choices.

There are two kits out there that I am looking at getting. The first the the Mamiya DM22/DF system and adding the Schnieder 80mm LS coming to about $12480. The second is the Leaf Aptus II-5 kit which includes the Phase One DF body and that very same Schnieder listed at $12990.

I have yet to demo either of these backs, and given the similarities between the two bodies and backs, I'm surprised I couldn't find any information comparing and contrasting them. So I turn to you, the all knowing populace. What are the differences that aren't listed in the spec sheets?

I just spoke with the MAC rep for my local dealer. He told me that the Leaf and Mamiya backs are EXACTLY the same except for the name, and that with a firmware update coming in the next few weeks, all the backs will sync up to 1600. Yay!


Now where are those fast wireless triggers?

You should be aware that there is one more slight difference.
The Mamiya DM backs does not have an upgrade path which the Leaf backs has.
This can be one consideration if you at some point want to trade the back in for something larger/newer/faster.

Hello, I ma having trouble trying to figure out how to update my digital back. it is the Leaf Aptus ii DM22 with a 645 mamiya body. Iam trying to tether using the firewire cable and at the end converting it to thunder bolt 2. Any suggestions tips or tricks to go around this... Thanks
