Phase joke of the day - laughing is optional

Postby steffenjahn » Thu Dec 12, 2013 8:19 pm

My assistant dropped a new AF 35 Phase lens - and the barrel was slightly scratched.

I sent it to PhaseOne to get it checked and have the parts exchanged that were scratched.

The lens was 2 month travelling from Germany to Denmark to Japan to Denmark and back to Germany.

I payed € 1400.- for the repair.

The lens returned finally and looks exactly as it was leaving my studio. There are no signs of repair whatsoever. Same scratches all over.

So. Does Phase thinks I´m an idiot - or a fool ? Or maybe an foolish idiot ?

I´m owning Phase equipment for € 100.000.-

Do you think its worth to call PhaseOne or switch straight to Hasselblad ?

That is not right in any way shape or form.
If you are in Germany, then contact Phase One Germany right away to figure out what has been going on.
Normally we would in this type of scenario be able to give you two estimates.
One for functional repair and a second one which is functional AND cosmetic repair.

Not knowing background I can not say how this repair has been handled.

Well, I got my final estimate ( after the invoice ! ) after I received the lens.

First estimate was € 140.-.

Final estimate was € 1400.-. As said - after I received the lens.

Phase Germany picked up the lens now to check.

This kind of service is definitely not suited for professional users...

First estimate was a "service check" which is typically an estimate for firmware upgrade and cleaning.

Seems like the German office has done the professional thing and picked lens up to undo any wrong doings.
