Film Backs.

Postby Spegelreflex » Fri Jul 26, 2013 3:01 pm

I want to start shooting medium format.
But I don't want to limit myself with just digital. I have read on this forum that the 645DF and 645DF+ don't support film-backs because new electric pinout of the body.

Is this electrical "protocol" open?
(since Phase One says that their cameras is an open platform so it should be accessible)
Where can i get the spec?

Hi

On DF and DF+ all the film features have been removed in order to extend the digital protocol.
The Phase One AF and all Mamiya 645 version pre DF does support film.
I would instead suggest you to look in to getting a used camera for shooting film.

It will be far cheaper and far less complicated then trying to reverse engineer a cassette to work on the DF and also you would have access to all the film features in the body.
