Wide angle with view camera

Postby Eric Joakim » Thu Mar 03, 2005 3:30 pm

Hi,
Does anybody have experiences working with wide angles and view cameras, for example, 35mm f5.6 Digitar lens? How does the combination with P25 or H25 cope with camera movements?
Thanks,
Eric.

Hi Eric:

Camera movements will results in what's called a lens cast. It looks like a shift from magenta to green across the image. A Lens Cast Callibration needs to done for each new lens position on the view camera. This tool is located in the Color Panel of the software. This can be done by using a plane piece of white plexi-glass over the lens or by using an ExpoDisc www.expodisc.com. Take a capture with this over the lens and with about 2 stops more exposure. The resulting capture is then saved as a LCC file and can be applied to subsequent captures to correct the problem. It's really quite easy to do.

I shoot with the P25 on a Arca Swiss. Various lens from Schnider 28mm on up to 150mm. Works well. The lens cast correction is a must. Also have very mimimal movements with the 28mm
