Questions about focusing with view cameras

Postby Max12 » Sat Feb 04, 2006 9:14 pm

I am not currently a digital back user and I've never seen one in use.

Say, I have a view camera such as Arca with a digital back on a FlexAdaptor and a lens for digital capture.

- Can the camera's focus, in particular the tilts, be accurately dialed in by looking at the tiny ground glass of the FlexAdaptor? What magnification does the FlexAdapter's own loupe provide?

- In an untethered setup, can the back's LCD be zoomed in sufficiently to judge focus?

- Is untethered overall usable with a view camera (as opposed to a rigid medium format camera)?

- Is there a kind of live mode with shutter open to help focusing?

Thanks in advance for all comments!

I am a P45 user.
The focusing principles are the same as film. It is more challenging as the images size is smaller on the ground glass. However it seems to work just fine. There is no live focus, I doubt you can judge focus on the back.
