Mirror Lock Up

Postby Gary32 » Sun Aug 16, 2009 2:25 pm

I understand that early versions of the P1 645 had a firmware issue with the mirror lock up, in that if the shutter button wasn't instantly released after firing, then the mirror lock up would perform a second cycle and the screen would black out as the mirror raised for a second time.

Has this been addressed, and if so how do bodies currently shipping perform?

To me that does not really ring a bell as ever being a problem.
So if it ever was (which I doubt, could have been a flaw on a specific body) it is also fixed.

Thanks Ulf, unfortunately this issue with mirror lock-up isn't hearsay. It was detailed in the first P1 645 review on Luminous Landscape, and when I tried the camera at Teamwork in London I experienced the same thing. Set mirror lock up, take a shot, afterwards you glimpse the scene for a brief moment through the viewfinder, then the mirror flips up again and the viewfinder goes dark.

Regards,

Gary

Ulf, here's the relevant section from the Luminous Landscape review,

A more real concern is a problem with the way in which mirror lock-up works. When set to the MLU position the first press of the shutter release (button or via electronic cable release) moves the mirror up, and the second actuates the shutter. What I quickly discovered is that if you press the shutter button the second time for a fraction of a second too long, the mirror will pop up again after the exposure rather than simply return to the viewing position. This must have happened to me 20 times in one week, so it's clearly more than just an occasional issue. According to Phase One this problem was missed during initial testing and will be corrected as production of the camera ramps up.

I have no reported issues with this with the latest versions of the firmware.
Current version is 1.5 and this is how you check this

Ulf,

I noticed that some of the links provided by P1 staff are now broken. Hope these can be corrected as your answers are very valuable for us users. Thanks.

Hello

Yes I can see that, we are in a transition period of our webpage where some links need the classic "WWW" to be changed with "xchange" during this period.
By the start of the new year we expect everything to be back to normal.

So the link I have posted above then is:
